Not so long ago the world-famous Intel Company introduced the idea of new mobile computers – “ultrabooks” to the notebooks manufacturers. The company places serious demands on those devices which are called “ultrabooks”. These machines have to be thin, to have high productivity, and they have to be affordable.
Most recently, at the IFA 2011 held in Berlin, the company introduced to the visitors an interesting concept. At the exhibition the Japanese company introduced Portege Z830 – a unique mobile computer which weighs slightly more than 1 kilogram and has a thickness of no more than 15.9 millimeters. The case of the device is made of magnesium alloy, and despite its humble appearance, the computer has a quite serious inside. Buyers are offered a choice of several Intel Core chips of the second generation, and there are several modifications. The ultrabook may be provided with up to 6 GB of RAM, and has slots for USB, Wi-Fi, as well as a slot for memory cards and even a 1.3 mega pixel camera.
The keyboard of the ultrabook comes with backlighting and is protected from moisture; the 13.3 inch screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Ultrabook can operate without recharging for about 8 hours, which is not bad. Currently there is no data on the exact value of such ultrabooks, but it is known that their will start very soon. Such ultrabook will cost less 1,000 dollars. The second model of the ultrabook is called Lenovo IdeaPad U300s, as well as the other models it has a 13.3 inch screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This model of the ultrabook accommodates up to 4 GB of RAM and has an aluminum case. It is not available with a hard disk, so a storage with capacity of 256 GB will be used to keep the information. A set of ports and high-quality audio are also included. Weight of the device is about a kilogram, and the thickness is little more than 1,4 cm. The price of the device failed to be kept within affordability range, and the sales start in October of this year at a price of 1,195 dollars.
An interesting fact is that in addition to the standard metallic color of the U300s, an orange with a black inner surface version of ultrabook will be available for sale. While ultrabooks have not yet appeared on the market, the buyers have the opportunity to think carefully about the necessity of such a purchase.
