Having presented its new Aspire S7 series at IFA, Acer dove into the future of ultrabooks market – the era of touch-screen machines based on Windows 8. Let’s have a look at the hero of our today’s review – the Acer Aspire S7 family.
The new Acer Aspire S7 13.3-incher excels with a most striking and mind-boggling design ever seen. Its white-colored razor-thin chassis distinguishes itself with a minimalist-looking aluminum unibody construction, which is exceptionally stylish. The ultrabook’s lid is covered with Gorilla Glass 2, the next generation of the damage-resistant cover glass, and is notable for hiding fingerprints thanks to its white coloring scheme.
Measuring less than half an inch thick and weighing 2.86 pounds, the Acer Aspire S7 13.3’’ ultrabook is incredibly thin and light. Aiming at minimizing damage, the manufacturer threw in a thin, soft cushion between the aluminum frame and the Gorilla Glass for its Aspire S7 model (in case the machine is dropped).
The Aspire S7 family comes with a dual torque hinge design that allows for folding the display open to 180 degrees (for sharing screen and adjusting multiple viewing angles).
The Acer Aspire S7 features a 13.3-inch display with an outstanding resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels and an electroluminescent backlit keyboard with a light sensor that delivers a comfortable experience making for trouble-free touch typing and working in a dimly lit environment.
As for the specifications, the new Acer Aspire 13.3-inch ultraportable lineup will go for sale featuring an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3317U CPU clocked at 1.7GHz (with Turbo Boost up to 2.6GHz), 4GB DDR3 RAM, along with 128GB or 256GB SSD options.
Connectivity features will include an SD card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, a micro HDMI and combo mic/headphone jack, a USB-to-Ethernet adapter and a micro HDMI-to-VGA cable.
Acer claims its Aspire S7’s battery will last up to 12 hours thanks to a specially developed TwinAir cooling technology.
The AcerCloud feature will let customers connect their ultrabooks to Android mobile devices, while the Acer’s Theft Shield software will protect their machines in public places.
When it comes to prices and buying options, the gadget afficionados will be able to buy their cosmic Acer Aspire S7 13.3-incher in USA starting from October 26 – the date of official Windows 8 launch. The S7 ultrabook will be available for the best starting price of $1,400 and up to $1,650.
If money is not a problem than you should like this ultrabook because it is a great choice for every day home/office use.
