This Ultrabook is the descendant of UX31 with touch screen functionality that shows great performance results and has a stunning look
Keeping the ball rolling, ASUS continues expanding its product lineup with Windows 8 platforms. This time the manufacturer cuts a wide swath through the competition with an update to its famous Zenbook Prime family: the UX21A Touch is the first model in the series equipped with a capacitive multi-touch matrix. Enjoying a powerful hardware configuration, the upcoming UX21A ultrabook gets the promise of a new finger-friendly Windows 8 operating system.
Overall, users will not notice many differences in the hardware: the refreshed Zenbook Prime UX21A Touch comes with similar specs and features compared to the original version, except for that screen that now boasts the ten-point touch technology. It has the same industrial aluminum design standing out with its champagne color scheme, skinny silhouette and air-light weight (to remind you, the ultrabook measures just 0.68 inches at its thickest point and weighs only 2.64 pounds). The keyboard is backlit, and feels strikingly responsive, adding to the whole top-notch impression.
As with the non-touch members of the Zenbook Prime family, the UX21A Touch ultrabook excels with a gorgeous full HD Super IPS+ screen that features a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and delivers extremely bright and colorful image quality (with viewing angles up to 178 degrees).
Again, like its predecessors, the ASUS Zenbook Prime UX21A Touch will come powered by the latest generation Intel Core CPUs, an up to 256GB SSD that contributes to incredibly speedy boot times (the reviewed ultraportable cold starts in about 10 seconds), an Intel HD 4000 graphics card and 4GB RAM. The manufacturer claims, that the upgraded UX21A touch will last for up to 150 days in standby mode with 2 seconds of resume-from-sleep time.
In terms of ports and wireless connectivity, the selection of I/O options is again similar to the older version: a HDMI / VGA, an USB 3.0, dual band 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi (2.4GHz), and Blutooth 4.0.
There is no information yet on UX21A Touch’s pricing or availability on the market, but the release day is contingent on the Windows 8 launch. It is expected that the ultrabook will hit the stores after October 26.
