Boasting a happy blend of high-performing interior and an exceptional, refined design, the Series 7 ultraportable lineup by Samsung delivers amazing Windows 8 capabilities teamed up with a strikingly responsive 13.3-inch Full HD touch-enabled panel for unforgettable using experience that is both enjoyable and visually impressive. With an intense rivalry between giant gadget vendors Apple and Samsung surrounding smartphone and tablet releases (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1), the latter should keep its eyes open with the new Series 7 Ultra that looks like an Apple MacBook Pro clone.

Excelling with a silky elegant look, as its name would suggest, the new Samsung Series 7 Ultra comes in a brushed metal coat measuring just 0,74inch thick and weighing in at a feather-light 2.2 pounds. The Series 7 Ultra laptop feels solid and reliable without any flex and will be a perfect companion while traveling or on the move. Officially launched at the CES 2013 trade show, the new Samsung Series 7 ultrabook seems really enjoyable and user-friendly, especially when it comes to its backlit keyboard which feels comfortable to type on with the keys offering plenty of bounce and sensible spacing.

The Samsung Series 7 Ultra machine packs an amazing 13.3-inch Full HD panel with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Supporting ten-point multi-touch technology, the model under review offers a pleasantly smooth and responsive navigation so the user can easily scroll, tap, touch and drag tiles etc. However, as the saying runs, there is a spoon of tar in a barrel of honey. On a minus side here is the Series 7 Ultra 13-incher’s hinge which is a bit loose and delivers some flex especially during the touch-enabled use, so the machine sometimes fails to hold firm to touch controls.

With its discrete AMD HD8570M graphics card, the new Series 7 is more multimedia-targeted and makes for fantastic vibrant and rich images and impresses with color reproduction, contrast and viewing angles. Thanks to its premium-quality display, the Series 7 Ultra laptop proves a strong rival in its category, with flawless swipes between Windows 8 tiles and menus, or the opening of applications without any annoying motion blur and bitty transitions.

As with most Samsung laptops continuing the theme of sleek elegance and user-friendliness, the Ultra’s all-in-one touchpad is generously sized and strikingly smooth and accurate which is great for gesture controls. Furthermore, the touchpad’s click mechanism is a pleasure to use while delivering non-irritating audible feedback.Yours truly weren’t able to run any benchmarks or battery rundown tests at the show, but Samsung promises its Series 7 Ultra will last for up to eight hours on a single charge. Well, if true, this will be a pretty tempting option both for businesses and home users.

In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Series 7 ultraportable’s stylish profile features a decent variety of ports and connections including a super-speed USB 3.0 port for most efficient data transfer, a pair of standard USB 2.0 sockets, HDMI output for connecting to a compatible HDTV or home theater, mini VGA port, an SD card slot and HP/MIC jacks along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. In addition, our Series 7 13-incher’s work and play credentials can be further bolstered with an integrated 720p HD camera for video chats with friends and family. According to the manufacturer, its Ultra techno wonder will also be available with optional 4G LTE connectivity.

The Samsung Series 7 Ultra laptops will go on sale in several configurations including the ones running on the third-generation ultra-low-voltage Intel Core i7/i5 chips teamed up with up to 16 GB of RAM and an SSD of up to 256GB in capacity. Based on such specs, the reviewed series will surely deliver fantastic performance and fast boot times.

Although the ultrabooksreview.com’s team didn’t have much time to take a close look and fully test the Samsung’s gadget, it is certainly one of the most desirable laptops in the market – Windows 8 operating system and its capabilities perfectly match cutting-edge hardware features and technicalities on board.
