The new Sony VAIO T14 (the updated T13 series) is a Windows-8 running system which will be an ideal choice for a user who still wants to do things the old-fashioned way using the keyboard and trackpad.
The Sony’s T14 series ultraportable boasts the same silver metal-and-plastic industrial design as the previous T13 model and incorporates similar port connectivity including one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, an Ethernet jack, audio-out and a VGA socket.
With a larger 14-inch display, the whole T14 system has a larger footprint and feels heavier (13.59″ (W) 0.82″ (H) 9.38″ (D), 3.77 pounds), which means there is enough space now to accommodate an optical disc drive to support Blu-Ray and DVD media.
The T14 series ultrabook’s black matte keyboard is generously-sized and sports an island-style layout. Impressively responsive and accurate, the trackpad supports multi-touch gestures and smoothly allows the user to scroll with two fingers, pinch to zoom in and out, swipe to flip through pages or photos, and even to rotate an image.
The Sony VAIO T14’s screen is the largest one in the T family and goes on sale with a native 1,366 x 768p resolution. Thanks to a glossy, anti-reflective finish, the reviewed 14-incher’s panel provides excellent color intensity accompanied by an overall pleasant viewing experience.
