At IFA 2012 Toshiba officially announced it was expanding its Satellite product family with a quite unusual mobile device code-named U925t. The novelty called by the Japanese vendor a transformer-like ultrabook, marries the best features of a laptop and a tablet computer, and comes with a 12.5-inch touch-screen, that can be slid out to the keyboard. That LED backlit IPS-supporting display featuring 300-nit brightness and 1,366 x 768 resolution is made of Gorilla Glass, which, being tough and scratch resistant, is designed to protect the device in everyday use.

Turning to the design, to use the Toshiba Satellite U925t in a regular-notebook mode, you can push the screen up to reveal a rather spacious built-in keyboard and then tilt it further upwards – now  the device looks like a standard ultraportable. The Satellite U925t’s keyboard features backlighting, which is impressively bright, and a touchpad that supports Windows 8 gestures.

The whole system weighs a bit over three pounds and measures about 0.8 inches thick. Well, these numbers speak for the U925t convertible perfectly, since one can easily fit it into any bag, which comes in very handy for someone who like being always on the go.

Under the hood, the Toshiba Satellite U925t comes with the following specifications: a third-generation Intel Core i5-3317U clocked at 1.7-GHz (2.6 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology; 3 MB L3 cache), Intel HD 4000 graphics with up to 1,696 MB of dynamically allocated shared graphics memory, up to 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. This happy blend of U925t’s technicalities goes on sale to deliver amazing performance and stunning visuals, and grants a much quicker access to files, games and other multimedia content.

In terms of connectivity, the Satellite U925t slider boasts a good bunch of ports: 2 super-speed USB 3.0 ports (1 with Sleep and Charge capabilities), HDMI audio/video output with support for Full HD 1,080p video, a multi-format memory card reader compatible with Secure Digital, SDHC, SDXC, mini-SD, micro-SD, a Multi Media Card, microphone and headphone jacks. Wireless options include 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 for connecting to various peripherals, and Near Field Communication (NFC) for quick and secure data transfer to compatible smartphones and peripherals.

In terms of cost and availability, the USA consumers now have a chance to buy this U925t engineering marvel starting at $1,117. For the moment, this is the best and the lowest price on the market. As soon as we have any updates, yours truly at will be pleased to make a more attractive offer for tempting Toshiba Satellite U925t. Stay tuned to get the most detailed reviews and price comparisons!
